About the Artists

TOM FANNING

Background

Tom Fanning was born in Berkeley, California in 1940. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, from the College of Environment Design. He is an award winning Architect, practicing architecture for forty years..

Tom’s first major show was “Honolulu Reflections” at the Honolulu Academy of Arts in 1970,

His work is collected throughout the Western United States and frequently appears in juried and one man shows. Tom says his subject matter never changes, “I paint the environment and man’s work in relationship to the environment.

 

CAROL FANNING

Background

Carol Fanning graduated from San Jose State with a degree in Fine Art. She did her graduate studies at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa and the University of California, Berkeley. She taught Art at Iolani School, Haunahauoli School and enrichment summers at Punahou and Blance Pope in Waimanalo.

Carol's interest has always been history and this is reflected in her paintings. She paints the past, the present and the future with special emphasis on the effect of politics on mankind.

Her work is becoming more graphic and iconic, her colors moving to primary as she establishes a dialogue with the viewer. Her work has been shown at colleges, public fairs, juried shows and private galleries. She is collected publically and privately throughout Hawaii and the rest of the United States.
